Non-canon (roleplay) Character Background.[]

Due'gar originally came from a low-ranked sub-house that concerned itself with various crafts, many of them related to drudgery and stone-work not appropriate for the slave class. He was apprenticed to a very authoritative uncle at a young age, a period of his life that still marks him, emotionally, if not physically, and along with his original low social stature it does a lot to explain why he is habitually nervous and seldom raises his voice. He also sometimes have overly strong fears of being offensive, or failing to be good enough, that hail from this time of his life, but surprisingly he's sensible and introspective enough to realize this and tries to compensate.

Due'gar was never particularly special in any way during his youth. He was never tested for mana affinities (his bloodline had not shown any special traits in many generations) and never trained in mana arts. He never stood out and he seldom spoke his opinion, due to his uncle's iron hand. He did become a reasonably competent mason and stone-worker, but his uncle regularly held him to standards which were decades of work experience ahead of him fulfilling.

By the time the city was attacked, he had finished his apprenticeship, and was working in a minor quarry not far from An'jhali's escape route ("Work in a q-quarry, for my own? Away from uncle? YE-ah. Yes. Please."). He was therefore one of the 'lucky' few who did not endure directly the horror of the sudden strike against their home, though there's still the emotional trauma of simply losing everything and almost everyone he'd ever known. He tagged along with the band of refugees when the news of the city's state reached him. It seemed the most sensible thing to do.
